Gareth began his career at Synectic as a Trainee Accountant in 1991, becoming a Director in 2005. Gareth has over 20 years’ experience in business and corporate advisory services and is an experienced board member.

He has been at the forefront of growing our firm, including overseeing our state-wide expansion. He has steered the development of our self-managed super fund and financial services divisions, and has been integral to our ongoing commitment to audit as a core service.

Gareth ensures we are always at the leading edge of our profession with knowledge, skills and resources that set us apart from other firms of our size. He is valued for his personal investment in building strong relationships with both staff and clients.

A proud husband, father of three and Tigers tragic, Gareth and his family enjoy heading out in the caravan and snow skiing. He also enjoys cycling, having ridden at an international level in his younger days.

Ben joined Synectic as a Director in 2013 to head up our audit and self-managed super fund divisions. With over 20 years’ experience in audit, financial reporting, superannuation and corporate advisory services, he brings a passion for client service and the benefits that come from high quality service.

Ben is heavily involved with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, participating in the development and direction of our profession. He is also an experienced board member and a CA accredited Superannuation Specialist.

His enthusiasm for the benefits of audit, which he sees as not just a compliance obligation but a valuable tool for driving optimum results, has earned him a loyal client base and a like-minded team. He believes in pragmatic, relevant advice that helps clients improve their operations, governance and internal controls.

Ben enjoys taking his wife and two children camping and fishing. A self-proclaimed “mediocre athlete”, he did however make a mark as a staunch defender in local football!

Danny joined our Launceston office in early 2015, adding his experience in multi-national and small local firms to our team. With a special interest in technology, Danny enjoys assisting clients to obtain quality management information from their business systems. Danny enjoys time outdoors with his Labrador, travelling, cooking (and eating!) and is currently renovating his house.

The highlights of her role are spending time with clients and working within the ever changing landscape of the business environment. Cath values respect and awareness of individual values, needs and preferences as key to achieving positive outcomes. Outside of work she volunteers at the local Red Cross shop and enjoys travel and cooking (well, more eating really!)

He also enjoys motorsports, Sunday drives in his MG and time with family.

He enjoys a wide variety of sporting endeavours and spending time with his wife and young daughter.

She has a particular interest in assisting clients with accounting software and holds Xero partner certification. With two teenage boys Fiona cooks a lot, and is bravely teaching them to drive. She also spends much of her time volunteering in the local community and bush walking.

Bec’s career began at Synectic in 2014 after several years of administrative experience combined with study. Bec began with Synectic predominantly focused on self-managed superannuation funds and has keenly embraced further opportunities for career progression, moving into the accounting team in 2016. She is currently undertaking the Chartered Accountants Program. Bec has been enjoying renovating her home and loves to combine her passion for cooking with travel.

Phillip joined Synectic in 2013, with almost 20 years of audit experience gained in two well-established Launceston accounting firms. He has also worked privately for more than 10 years. Phillip specialises in the audit of not-for-profit organisations, self managed super funds and trust accounts. He enjoys time with family, travelling and sport. He also has a love of the quieter pursuits of photography, reading, gardening and cooking.

Currently undertaking the Chartered Accountants program, Scott joined us in 2014 while completing his degree. Scott has since gained experience in taxation, accounting and audit and has developed particular expertise with Synectic’s aged care and local government clients. Scott is interested in history and architecture, reading for knowledge acquisition and is a talented musician who plays piano, saxophone and violin.

Matthew has a particular passion for helping clients identify and achieve their personal, family and business goals. Providing clients with information to clearly understand their options is important to him.

Matthew has worked in the financial services industry over 19 years and holds the industry’s highest certification as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®.

After a stint in London, Matthew worked with Ord Minnett for 2 years. He was a Private Client Adviser with Shadforth Financial Group for over 17 years, during which time he worked closely with Synectic as an external adviser to many of our clients.

After a short break enjoying time with his young family, Matthew joined Synectic in 2017.

Matthew’s qualifications in both Accounting and Financial Planning position him well to work closely and intelligently with the accountants, taxation specialists and business advisers at Synectic, putting him in an advantageous position to deliver holistic advice to our clients.

Matthew was on the esteemed AFR Smart Investor Masterclass for Financial Planning Top 10 Financial Advisers in Australia list in 2004 and has been on the Top 50 Financial Advisers in Australia list seven times.

A highly qualified and experienced practitioner, Matthew enjoys working with clients in retirement and redundancy planning, wealth accumulation strategies, investments, estate planning, superannuation, including SMSFs, personal and business insurances, tax planning, and Centrelink advice.

When he is not helping his clients, Matthew enjoys spending time with his three young boys and playing competitive squash.

Curtis joined Synectic in January 2017, however we have worked extensively together over many years. He has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including the last three years running his own business. Prior to that he was a Private Client Adviser for over 20 years.

Specialising in the provision of investment and financial planning advice for retirees, pre-retirement investors and other direct investors, Curtis has a focus on direct investment strategies to help you achieve your financial objectives. He also provides the full range of strategic financial and risk advice covering retirement, superannuation, estate planning, personal insurance and Centrelink planning.

Married with two daughters and a son, Curtis has a keen sense of humour (a must when investment markets are not co-operating!). Outside of family Curtis enjoys reading, history, music and bike riding.

She has spent time volunteering at her children’s school and acted as treasurer on the school committee.
