17 November 2011

The staff and directors of Synectic are thrilled to have our workplace announced as recipients of a 2011 Employer of Choice Award.

David O'Byrne, Minister for Economic Development, presented the awards on behalf of the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts on the 17th of November at Wrest Point, Hobart.

Employers of Choice are recognised by the Tasmanian Government for demonstrating contemporary workplace practices and outstanding support for their staff. The award recognises the focus we have on creating and maintaining a fantastic workplace and our ability to successfully attract and retain skilled employees. It acknowledges Synectic as a great place to work, of which we are very proud.

Mike Gibson & Assoc merge with Synectic

1 July 2011

We are pleased to announce that from 1 July 2011, Mike Gibson & Associates have merged with Synectic. The merger will enable Mike to manage his pending retirement in a seamless manner and, importantly, will provide his clients with continuity of service.

Many of our clients will be familiar with Mike as he was previously a partner in Atkinson Gibson, from which Synectic was formed in 2005. He and his team have since continued to occupy the ground floor of 49 Best Street.
Mike will work with the Synectic team until 31 August 2011, during which time he will be available as normal. In addition, we welcome Mikes Senior Accountants, Ian Walker and Troy Atkins, and Administrator, Nicole Long, to our team.

Yvonne Rundle joins Gareth Atkins as director and joint owner of the Synectic Group

1 April 2011

On the 1st of April 2011, Yvonne joined Gareth Atkins as director and joint owner of the Synectic Group AG Synectic Chartered Accountants, Synectic Audit & Assurance and Synectic Super.

Yvonne has shown true loyalty to our firm and clients since starting her career with Atkinson Gibson (now Synectic) as a Trainee Accountant some 28 years ago. With a commitment to her profession which is second to none, Yvonne has developed extensive experience in public practice, specialising in the provision of taxation, business advisory and estate planning services.

A fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and the Taxation Institute of Australia (TIA), Yvonne has also supplemented her experience in public practice with a number of senior board positions. She is currently a non-executive director of Tote Tasmania, Deputy Chancellor of the University of Tasmania and a past Chairperson of the Tasmanian division of the ICAA.

Yvonne has been active in the management and direction of the firm for many years, most recently in her role as Tax & Accounting Manager. There is no doubt that the long term relationship the firm has with many clients is, in many cases, a reflection of Yvonne's commitment, dedication and expertise.

Importantly, while stepping back from a position as director, Rob Atkinson remains as committed as ever to the Synectic Group and will continue to share his wealth of experience and expertise in a senior adviser and consultancy role.

We welcome these changes which will provide assurance and confidence into the future.
