Distinctly different.

With 2 partners and 21 staff we are perfectly sized for you to develop your career in a modern and progressive, yet friendly workplace. We foster a culture that focuses on enjoying what we do and achieving personal excellence.

Synectic is a distinctly different place to work. We uphold strong client and team focused values while delivering a vibrant workplace where you can benefit from the experience, support and independence you need to enjoy your career.

For us, the measure of our success is the strength of relationships we build. We attract and retain quality staff and the happiness of our people drives the strong relationships we have with our clients and community.

In fact, the word Synectic means the connection of creative ideas and dynamic skills, from diverse individuals, with the aim of producing common outcomes. So, from our name through to our every business practice, we show our commitment to bringing together great, unique yet like-minded individuals who enjoy sharing ideas to help our clients and grow themselves and their careers.

We attract people who are striving for success in their careers, but we also want them to continue to enjoy doing a variety of things they love to do.

We recognise that all our people have different needs and aim to help you find the right balance in your work, family, academic and lifestyle pursuits.

We understand that there are many different ways to work effectively, and support various arrangements that recognise individual circumstances and role requirements, for example:

  • Flexible working hours for full and part time staff to accommodate business requirements and personal commitments;
  • Versatile working arrangements to provide the opportunity to perform work from home on a regular basis;
  • Career breaks, for example, to study, travel, or pursue sporting aspirations;
  • Time out (unpaid leave) for short periods, generally in response to personal emergencies;
  • Parental benefits such as parental leave, as well as options for breastfeeding;
  • Carer's leave to take accrued sick leave to care for a sick family member;
  • Study assistance.

Our investment in training and development is well above industry benchmark, allowing us to move rapidly with frequent industry and regulatory changes. Our investment allows our people to continually develop and to be leaders in current industry knowledge.

By joining Synectic, you will be mentored by inspiring leaders and work closely with senior managers and partners from day one.

Client contact will occur from early in your career to allow development of personal interaction and problem solving skills at an earlier stage of your career than the industry norm. For more experienced staff, this ongoing client contact rewards your independence and allows you to manage your own client base.

You will experience hands-on responsibility and accountability and be exposed to a variety of clients and interesting projects. In an environment which focuses heavily on continuous learning and striving for excellence we will ensure you can achieve your full potential.

The formal learning and development support you can expect includes:

  • Regular internal training (e.g. monthly tax updates, personal and professional development days, software training).
  • External training in line with your career needs.
  • Relevant study support through paid study leave, mentoring and reimbursement of course fees.
  • On-the-job training from experienced managers.
  • Our Staff Development System encourages our people to develop their own career paths and interests. We focus on personalised development and training plans to help people build new competencies and enhance their range of skills.
  • Performance Criteria are set collaboratively, measured monthly and formally reviewed bi-annually.
  • All of our team participate in the development of our firm, hence enjoying the opportunity to broaden their work experiences and strategic understanding.

While we are small enough to offer a great workplace culture, we are large enough to expose you to a wide variety of interesting accounting and business issues. We enjoy a well established and loyal client base as well as continual growth from new clients.

You will gain experience with a diverse client base, varying in both size and complexity, including some of Tasmanias largest and most well known businesses.

Through our three divisions we provide a range of services to our clients, including tax, accounting, business and corporate advice, family wealth management, audit, assurance and self managed super fund administration and strategic guidance.

You will have experiences and gain an understanding across our firm but will also have the opportunity to specialise in an area the suits your talents.
